Flipkart is the online partner for the Galaxy S8 and S8+ and the phones will also be available in offline retail stores. The company also offered a free wireless charging case for those who pre-order the phone.

The phones come in two models with different screen sizes – Galaxy S8 with 5.8-inch and Galaxy S8+ with 6.2-inch. Both feature the dual curved edges to the display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Both smartphones have a screen resolution of 2960×1440 and come with curved Super AMOLED screens. Also, both the S8 phones will offer a bezel-less design.

Samsung Galaxy S8 will come with a QuadHD Infinity display with 570 pixels per inch (ppi). The S8 will have an internal memory of 64GB with microSD support upto 256GB along with 4 GB RAM. The phone will run on Android 7.0 Nougat, drawing power from a 3,000 mAh battery. The Galaxy S8 has a 12-megapixel rear camera and a 8-megapixel front camera.

S8+ will come with an OLED display with 529 ppi support. The S8+ has a higher battery capacity of 3,500 mAh due to the bigger display. Other features of the S8+ are same as the S8. Both will come with an Exynos processor in India.

Both the phones are IP68 (dust and water resistant), connectivity options include 4G LTE (Cat. 16), Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4GHz, 5GHz), Bluetooth v5.0, USB Type-C, NFC, and GPS. Sensors on board has an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, barometer, gyroscope, heart rate sensor, magnetometer, fingerprint sensor and proximity sensor. They both have wireless charging and support Samsung Pay, with NFC and MST connectivity.

The Galaxy S8 also introduced Bixby just like Apple’s Siri, which is company’s latest smart Artificial Intelligence assistant. With a dedicated button on the side of the phone, users will be able to ask Bixby to perform any task, from making calls to referring to nearby restaurants to changing the phone’s settings.

According to Samsung, Bixby also shows contextual info. This means it learns about app usages and shows back info in the form of cards. It simply adapts to the user based on usage, time and date. It also has a basic reminders tool that allows you to set geo-location alerts.

Samsung’s Galaxy S8 will be the first major release from the company after the last year’s Galaxy Note 7, a flagship phone that was plagued by overheating issues, with reports of its battery catching fire came in from across the globe. The device was eventually discontinued and recalled.
