The Siddaramaiah-led Karnataka government has lately been making some serious efforts to do an image overall of the government and the state in respect to being called not so industry friendly. The government had just a few weeks back unveiled a booster kit with the aim of nurturing startups in the state with hand-holding and fundings till the time they're able to make their mark in the market. And, now, the government is all set to host India's first ever open house for startups in Bengaluru on today. Priyank Kharge, the state's newly appointed IT & BT Minister will be addressing the open house.

The main agenda behind holding the open house is to discuss the problems currently being faced by the startups in the state and come up with the solutions for the same so that the sector keeps climbing its upwards growth trajectory. Currently, Bengaluru is the second-fastest growing startup ecosystem in the world. The first position is held by Berlin and its burgeoning startup industry.

The booster kit recently launched by the state government provides the startups with software tools, cloud credits, access to mentors, legal and consulting accountants and easy access to government funding and all the government supported incubators.

The government launched booster kits have served as a great attraction for the young entrepreneurs of the state to take the startup plunge. According to figures available, the number of startups registered with the state's IT department have seen a sharp jump to 702 from a mere 40 since the launch of the booster kit.

One thing that has made this booster kit an immediate hit with startups is the fact that any startup registered with the state can make use of its services from anywhere, without being limited to a government-funded incubator as it was in the earlier times.

The Siddaramaiah-led Congress government has for long had a reputation of being pro-rural and pro-poor, and hence not industry friendly. But, Priyank Kharge, the 38 year old IT & BT Minister of the state seems to have understood the importance of the industry for the state and is trying his level best to pump more energy and life into the state's startup industry.
