India as a large country possess huge potential for drone technology. This is the reason that last year saw e-commerce giants like Amazon and Flipkart announcing to make use of drones for deliveries in rural India.

According to CB Insights, the drone market is currently at its all-time high. This claim is backed by the data made available by the organisation signifying a 300 percent increase in drone startup funding all around the world in the year 2014-2015.

An Indian based startup worth mentioning for doing great work in the drone startup sector is Kanpur-based Aarav Unmanned Systems (AUS). A labour of hard work of the genius minds of Nikhil Upadhye, Suhas Banshiwala, Vipul Singh, and Yeshwanth Reddy, AUS was founded in the year 2013. The startup produces drones centric to agriculture, mapping, and energy management.

Such has been the startup's progress over the three years of its establishment that it recently raised a bridge round funding from Aaruha Technologies, an early-stage technology fund founded last year by BV Naidu, chairman, Sagitaur Ventures and ex-Infosys CFOs Mohandas Pai and V Balakrishnan. This was the fund's second investment since inception.

For the unaware, Bridge rounds are conducted by the startups in-between two different rounds of funding because it aspires a higher valuation before going for its next one.

According to Aaruha Technologies, the technology fund decided to go with AUS as its second investment because the startup's aim is on the same page as that of the Indian government's Make in India initiative. Further, the fund also listed out three main reasons that make AUS a safe bet for them and a great startup for the Indian agriculture industry.

1) According to Aaruha, AUS drones will be able to help in better infrastructure management by surveying land.
2) The startup can cut down on the time taken to carry out agricultural processes like fertilization, spraying pesticides, irrigation etc. and make them happen in much more efficient manner.
3) Lastly, data can be collected based on heat distribution to find out if solar power plans, power lines and other such large industries are working efficiently.

Drones for agriculture purposes can really prove to be a great help for the agriculture sector, a sector on which a large proportion of our country depends for its livelihood.
