The Narendra Modi government seems to be doing everything it can do to get the nation back onto the path of success and, what could be seen as another step in this direction is its new 'Start-up India' initiative.

By launching its this initiative, the government of India intends to create a strong ecosystem for fostering innovation and start-up culture in India.

Working in this direction, the Commerce and Industry Ministry has recently invited proposals from consultants for developing a framework for promoting start-ups in the nation.

The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) in its request for proposal for selection of consulting agency wrote that the government is currently working on a way to create an environment which will enable individuals and smaller companies, including start-ups and SMEs to grow through the means of innovation and design.

The main objective of the consultant would essentially be to assist the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion in carrying out its duties like evaluating central and state policies, examining the current start-up ecosystem, and providing short, medium and long term recommendations for implementation by various agencies in consultation with the various stakeholders involved.

Additionally, the agency would also be responsible in helping in the development of action plans for effective implementation of these above stated recommendations and supervise, handhold and monitor implementation of recommendations for a period of next three years. It will also set up and design a system to monitor the progress on the above initiatives in achievement of the set targets and deliverables for various agencies.

After the successful launch of his Pet project 'Make in India', Mr. Narendra Modi's eyes are now set on his 'Start-up India' project. He announced the same in his 15th August Independence Day speech stating -- 'Start-up India; Stand up India' -- in order to promote entrepreneurship culture in the country.
