Telstra, Australia's largest telecommunications company, has acquired IdeaObject - a Chennai, India based startup that builds Healthcare based softwares. The amount of acquisition has not been revealed yet.

IdeaObject focuses on cloud-based software products for hospitals to manage their information as well as for large healthcare facilities. IdeaObjects currently has 51 employees based in Chennai and their hospital information system, HealthObject, is deployed across approximately 250 hospitals and clinics in India, Thailand, Malaysia and the UAE.

IdeaObject’s products and Cloud9, another healthcare software company that Telstra acquired in December, will be integrated into Telstra Health, a unit of Telstra.

Founded in year 2008 by Seetharam Malur and Prabhakar Annaswamy, IdeaObject has helped over 300 healthcare setups across the globe in improving their patient care through the implementation of its solution, HealthObject. IdeaObject will continue to build and manage healthcare software for hospitals and clinics with its 50-member team in Chennai.

HealthObject is a comprehensive Hospital Management System by IdeaObject that covers all aspects of operations and management of medium and large multi-speciality hospitals. It helps deliver better patient care, reduces costs, and improves operational effectiveness.

The deal also marks its expansion into Asia, a lucrative telecommunications market with growing interest among telecommunications companies to provide cloud-based software services to major industries.
