uber taxi service

UberX Taxi service app by Uber Technologies was recently launched in Hyderabad, New Delhi and Bangalore. Uber acts like your private driver and by using the app you can request a ride and get picked up within a few minutes.

Uber offers on demand service which means you don’t need to pre-book your car or stand for a long time waiting for a cab. You can even compare the rates of different vehicles and get fare quotes using the app.

Uber Technologies is a San Francisco based company and was founded in 2009 by Garrett Camp and Travis Kalanick. Uber believes in evolving with the speed the world moves. According to it, through its apps it is making cities more accessible, opens up more business for drivers and possibilities for riders.

The app requires a working 3G data plan and a GPS-enabled phone in order to work properly. As soon as you request a cab on Uber, you can see the location of the cab as it reaches you. You are even provided with the driver’s name, number, photo along with the car’s number and type and its expected time of arrival. Using a simple slider, you can switch between the premium UberBlack (Mercedes, Honda Accord) and the low cost UberX (Swift Dzire, Etios).

The app lets you use PayPal or add a credit card to your secure account for the payment of the service. It even emails you the receipt at the end of the trip. Unlike other cabs, its fares are same during the day and at night. Uber is now available in New Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad and Chennai.

The app is very easy to use and well designed. A user can register in Mumbai with his Indian credit card and use it in New Delhi, Hyderabad and New York without altering any details. The app even allows you to split your fare with your friends whenever necessary.

Uber has a steep cancellation fee. It charges Rs. 150 cancellation fee for UberX and Rs.200 for UberBlack. This figure is as much as the minimum fare.

The app can be easily downloaded free of cost from Google Play store and Apple app store.
