Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) has launched a startup cell in 2 cities of Kerala - Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi. KSIDC has taken this step in a bid to promote young entrepreneurs and startups in state of Kerala, India.

Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC), having established itself as a key enabler for medium and large companies, launched the Startup cells yesterday aiming to provide new initiatives for fostering growth of startups and new enterprises of the young entrepreneurs.

Over the past few months, KSIDC has started receiving a steady stream of enquiries from start-ups in the State. These include both home grown enterprises as well as young Kerala entrepreneurs from outside, desirous of starting enterprises in the State.

Building on the platform created by the state's Student Entrepreneurship Policy of 2012 the State Government and KSIDC have announced a variety of initiatives to make Kerala a preferred destination among young entrepreneurs.

KSIDC is also organizing Young Entrepreneur Summit in September this year, Kerala's flagship event to establish Kerala as vibrant entrepreneurial state.

To attract high quality innovation and entrepreneurship, KSIDC is in the process of establishing a Knowledge Network linking centres of excellence like Sri Chitra Thirunal Institute of Science & Technology, Tropical Botanical Gardens & Research Institute, Kerala University for Fisheries & Oceanic Studies and Amritha Institute of Science & Technology.

"The initiatives such as the Life Sciences Park have already generated considerable interest amongst technically qualified professionals. Recently, KSIDC has also been working closely with agencies such as the CII and TiE to promote and nurture entrepreneurs in non IT-sectors such as Agri-tech / Food Processing / Electronics/ Green Industries etc" said Aruna Sundarajan, Managing Director, KSIDC.
