smsBlocker is an efficient Android & Symbian mobile application that blocks spam SMS automatically, it is designed to identify & distinguish between a spam and an important alert message and automatically block only spam SMS. The app also includes Call blocker & MMS blocker.
The app is available for free on Android whereas for Symbian mobile devices such as on Nokia Store it cost nominal Rs.15. Moreover available as free app for Android devices, the app claim itself to be Ads-free.
SMSBlocker blocks and filters SMS in the phone and not at mobile operator level thus the sender of the SMS will receive the SMS delivery report as usual. There is also an option to set tone for suspicious SMS pop-ups.The app block SMS based on number/phrase, content word or even by series though if you want you can see blocked SMS in 'Logs' with option to move to primary/main Inbox.
Via SMSBlocker you can block the SMS based on sender and/ or content & also create your own block lists and allow lists and have features like - daily block counter on home screen, Single-Click-Block, graphical UI, app auto-start, selective content filtering etc.
The app is developed by Pune based startup Optinno and has been awarded as winner of MIT Technology Review India. National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) has listed SMSBlocker app as one of the top-three mobile applications in India.
The app has got great response till date and made over a million downloads in Google play store and 30 per cent of the downloads are from outside India.
