Perpule, an Omni-channel retail-tech company has announced the appointment of two new VPs to head their business divisions. Raag Agrawal, VP Small Business and Praveen Prabhukumar, VP Delivery have joined Perpule in August 2019 to lead their expansion into newer markets and also establish UltraPOS as the leading point-of-sale billing product in the retail sector.
The new appointments come at a crucial juncture in Perpule’s journey. Raag Agrawal, who will be responsible for driving growth and lead the company’s expansion into untapped markets, has held critical positions at large enterprises. Prior to this appointment, Raag was instrumental in establishing and driving the operations of Jio Point Stores across the rural market at Reliance Jio. This was one of the biggest projects in the industry wherein more than 10K+ people were hired. His expertise in driving sales operations in rural markets will benefit Perpule’s foray into Tier-II cities. Praveen Prabhukumar, who has held various positions at Genpact over the last decade, has joined as VP Delivery. His responsibilities will include streamlining Perpule’s after-sales efforts. He will also be responsible for establishing higher service quality standards and driving consolidation in the POS systems market.
Owing to the rapid expansion and increasing customer needs, the company has increased its headcount 5X in the past year. The Bangalore based startup is also hiring self-starters and tech champions to join their team in the coming months. The tech team works on interesting challenges to bring next-gen retail commerce solutions to their customers.
Perpule plans to venture into the $3 billion Indian SMB point of sale revenue market by early 2020. Perpule’s UltraPOS is a platform-independent, form factor independent POS billing system that can enable anytime, anywhere billing. It is a cloud-based SaaS product that eliminates the need for bulky servers and computers in the store.
UltraPOS will enable offline stores to reduce billing counter size by up to 40% and help increase sales and revenue through an AI/data-driven approach to dynamic offers, cross-sell and upsell. It is currently being used by top retail brands such as Big Bazaar, HyperCITY, SPAR, Cult, More, Heritage, Vishal Mega Mart, Spencer’s, etc. Their goal is to transform retail commerce by making it seamless and more efficient. The focus of the company will be to launch products in these markets which will enable brands to provide seamless customer experience, both online and offline.
