Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan Wednesday launched Space Technology Application Development Ecosystem (STADE) in Trivandrum.

A project of the Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM), STADE is aimed as a facilitation centre for companies and start-ups that are into space data analytics and development of space-tech components.

STADE is supported by Indian space agency ISRO’s Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre and Airbus Bizlab, a global aerospace business accelerator of Airbus.

According to the government, Airbus has agreed on an ‘ecosystem partnership’ with it for the STADE project. Moreover, French space agency CNES along with the European Space Agency (ESA) are in advance phase of discussions for establishing similar partnerships with STADE.

Moreover, STADE has even on-boarded three startups working in space tech arena and these are — Satsure, Bellatrix and Agnikul .

Founded by Indians, Satsure is headquartered in London and has offices in
Dubai, Bangalore, and Zurich. The startup is an innovative large area analytics startup that leverage advances in satellites, machine learning and big data analytics to provide answers to large area questions across multiple domains like agriculture, forestry, insurance, irrigation, cities, environment and Oil & Gas.

Bellatrix Aerospace has developed a satellite propulsion technology to bring down the cost of space mission and affordable to all. The startup has dedicated Launch Vehicles for Nano-Satellites and In-Space Propulsion Systems to boost the lifetime in orbit. It has patented an electric propulsion system called “Microwave Electro-thermal Thruster (MET)” and claims that MET is more efficient than traditional chemical thrusters as it provides a higher ‘mileage’ and lasts longer.
