Online furniture store Urban Ladder Home Décor Solutions Pvt Ltd has raised Rs 102 crore from existing investors at a time when the company is seeking to evolve into a brand and build a strong offline presence through brick and mortar stores, according to documents available with the Registrar of Companies (RoC).
Kalaari, which has remained invested in Urban Ladder since August 2012, pooled in Rs30.64 crore while another early investor, SAIF Partners, invested Rs30.46 crore in this round. Steadview Capital, which has also invested in Flipkart, Quikr and Ola among others, pumped in Rs27.16 crore while Sequoia Capital chipped in with Rs13.58 crore, according to the documents.
Gurgaon and New York-based Better Mortgage, a technology-driven mortgage bank, has raised $15 million in Series B round from American VC firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB), financial company Goldman Sachs and New York-based investment firm Pine Brook. The new capital will support the launch and expansion of fintech firm Better’s home purchase finance product on Better.com. Last year in June, Better had raised $30 million Series A funding led by Goldman Sachs, Pine Brook, KCK Group, 1/0 Capital and IA Ventures.
Fintech startup ZestMoney has secured $6.5 Mn in its Series A round of funding led by PayU India. Existing investors, US-based Ribbit Capital and Omidyar Network, also participated in the round.Existing investors Ribbit Capital, Omidyar Network and a few angel investors also participated in the round, the company said in the press statement.
Sigtuple, a startup revolutionising global healthcare space through data driven intelligence, has raised $5.8mn in Series A funding led by Accel Partners with participation from IDG Ventures, Endiya Partners, pi Ventures, VH Capital and Axilor Partners and other prominent investors including Sachin Bansal, Binny Bansal, Amit Singhal (SVP Engineering, Uber and Ex-SVP, Google Search). The company had raised $740,000 in October 2015 from Sachin Bansal, Binny Bansal, Accel Partners, Ashok Bareja, Dr. Nirupa Bareja and Debanjan Mukherjee. SigTuple will use the latest round of funding to expand the team, bullet-proof the platform and the product for user adoption followed by commercials, and regulatory clearances for global markets.
Bengaluru-based digital media company YourStory Media Pvt. Ltd, which runs YourStory.com, has raised $3 million (about Rs 20 crore) in a fresh round of funding, filings with the Registrar of Companies (RoC) show. Existing investors Kalaari Capital Partners III LLC, Qualcomm Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, 3ONE4 Capital Advisors LLP and UC-RNT Fund took part in this round, the filings show.
Gurgaon-based Insignia Art Collect Pvt Ltd has raised $522,000 from DSG Consumer Partners in its first external round of funding. This investment is the first external round for the New Delhi-based, four-year-old venture, which owns and operates three businesses – online art portal BestCollegeArt, art gallery Art District XIII and The Wall Art Magazine.
Hyderabad-based augmented and virtual reality startup, Imaginate has secured $500K in its Seed round of funding from US-based early stage VC fund, SRI Capital. “The funds will be used to scale up operations in the US and run pilots with large-scale organisations,” Imaginate’s managing director Hemanth Satyanarayana said, adding the company was looking to raise more capital next year.
Subscription-based news startup, The Ken, has raised $400,000 (Rs 2.68 crore) from a clutch of investors. The participants in this round of funding include Aprameya Radhakrishna, co-founder, TaxiForSure; Deepak Natraj, managing director, Aarin Capital; Girish Mathrubootham, founder and CEO, Freshdesk; Mahesh Murthy, founder of Pinstorm and co-founder of Seedfund; Pallav Nadhani, co-founder and CEO, FusionCharts; Pavan Ongole, former director, SoftBank; Sandeep Mathur, managing director, Graticule Asset Management; Shan Krishnasamy, co-founder and CTO, Freshdesk; Shanmugam Nagarajan, co-founder and CPO, 7; V Balakrishnan, chairman, Exfinity Ventures and former CFO and board member, Infosys; and Vijay Shekhar Sharma, founder and CEO, Paytm.
Expense management company Fyle Technologies has raised $400,000 (Rs. 2.67 crore) in its seed round led by early stage venture firm Pravega Ventures, the startup’s founder Sivaramakrishnan Narayanan told Techcircle.
Venture fund Beenext, redBus co-founder Phanindra Sama, Zivame co-founder Richa Kar, and Qubole co-founder Joydeep Sen Sharma also participated in the round.
Drone operations management platform AirZaar has raised $350,000 in seed funding led by New York-based VC firm Quake Capital. Missouri Technology Corporation, a public-private partnership that provides seed money for tech startups, and a few other strategic angel investors also participated in the round.
The startup plans to use the funds to monetise its mining industry product, and to launch additional workflow products for the construction industry, Ravi Sahu, co-founder, AirZaar.

Online entertainment ticketing brand BookMyShow has invested an undisclosed amount for a majority stake in DIY event registration and ticketing portal, Townscript.
Online dating app Aisle has secured an undisclosed amount of funding from the CIO ANGEL Network (CAN). The lead investors were Anthony Thomas and Sanjay Mehta.
Delhi-based coworking office space provider Innov8 Coworking has raised an undisclosed amount of angel funding led by LetsVenture, Venture Catalysts and independent angel investors like Rajan Anandan (Google), S. Somasegar (MD, Madrona Venture Group), Vijay Shekhar Sharma (founder, Paytm), Girish Mathrubootham (founder and CEO, Freshdesk), Kunal Shah (co-founder, FreeCharge), and others.
Singapore-headquartered and Delhi-based data analytics firm Connaizen has raised an undisclosed amount from Vikram Sud, former Asia Pacific O&T head at Citigroup and ex-group COO of Kotak Mahindra Group, it said in a statement.
