It has only been a month since the start of the new year and it has already proven to be a great year for the blockchain technology. The year began with India’s central bank RBI’s research arm, the Institute for Development & Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT) giving a green light to blockchain and publishing a report stating that it has successfully tested the blockchain technology for core banking processes in the country in a pilot and considers that now the right time for the technology’s wide adoption in India.
IDRBT’s report was followed by the news that some of India’s largest banks have come together to build a consortium aimed at testing an interbank blockchain platform [Read Here]. The banks involved in the consortium are currently working with MonetaGo, a New York-based startup, which will be providing the platform.
And now, further strengthening the country’s cutting edge adoption of bitcoin’s underlying technology is Satoshi Studios, South East Asia’s first Blockchain Incubator.
