Indian cricketer Umesh Yadav who also played for India in Cricket World Cup’2015 has invested an undisclosed amount in Kolkata-based hyperlocal fashion portal Fashionove. Ten months old startup Fashionove.com is a fashion boutiques discovery, reviews, ratings and commerce portal.
Notably, another Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh ventured into backing early stage start-ups with his YouWeCan Ventures earlier this year investing in multiple tech start-ups. Tennis ace Mahesh Bhupathi had earlier invested in Bangalore based startup, Sports365.
Fashionove lists and reviews fashion boutiques in a city and hence enhances their online visibility. For people, it provides a platform to discover fashion stores/products near their home in a city. For fashion stores/boutiques, it increases their visibility online. It drives relevant enquiries and traffic to their stores and helps them exhibit their designs and products globally.
Basically, the review portal aids as the organic traffic feed to the fashion e-commerce portal and so reduces ad cost. Since there is no e-commerce business model that is profitable, with fashionove.com we aim to build one.
The campus startup was founded by former students of MICA-Ahmedabad – Sharad Kumar and Tanushree Khandelwal. Launched in October 2014, Fashionove Currently has 800 boutiques live on the reviewing platform. On the Fashion E-commerce marketplace, they have over 200 online vendors with over 15000 SKU’s.
Currently, the startup is live in Kolkata and Mumbai and will soon launch in Delhi and Bangalore
Fashionove.com aims to be a Zomato or better say a fashion search engine for online and offline fashion products and stores. It is the only portal in the country that has covered Kolkata city known for its custom-fit designer boutiques and ethnic wear.
