Tech giant Google’s Developer Group has tied up with Startup Village in Kerala to launch ‘Women Techmakers’ (WTM), a global programme and brand for women in technology.
Women Techmakers is Google’s global program and brand for women in technology. Kicked off in 2012 by then VP of Google Megan Smith, Women Techmakers is now led by Women in Technology Advocate Natalie Villalobos and a global team of Googlers who are passionate about empowering women in technology through increased visibility, community, and resources.
Inaugural event of Women Techmakers held in Cochin,Kerala on August 5th at Startup Village. Startup Village Chairman Sanjay Vijayakumar and CEO Pranav Kumar Suresh also spoke on the occasion.
“Our aim is to promote gender equality to women in technology entrepreneurship. The programme is aimed at giving more confidence and exposure to young women entrepreneurs and students through Google programmes,” Vijayakumar said.
Google’s Women Techmakers summits and meetups is catered to local communities of women in technology. The Summits and meetups under this programme around the world feature hands-on coding workshops, inspiring speakers, and networking opportunities.
Women Tech makers programme provide opportunities to develop industry needed skillsets, aid career development, and support women to become industry leaders in all phases of their careers.
