Bangalore-based B2B logistics delivery startup Townrush has raised undisclosed amount of seed funding from Lightspeed Venture Partners. The startup is co-founded by former Flipkart employees – Saurya Prakash and Ashutosh Banerjee along with Tushar Bisht, formerly a software engineer with Facebook

Cofounder Saurya Prakash was a senior business analyst at Flipkart when he recognized a gaping opportunity in hyperlocal supply chain and come up with idea to launch hyperlocal logistics service.

Essentially, Townrush is an urban logistics, and an on demand delivery platform that enables anyone to get local goods delivered in a city within hours. It connects merchants and customer to local logistic providers in real-time and orchestrate the complete shipment life-cycle till it reaches its final destination.

Townrush charges merchants to deliver goods within 30 minutes, and is now completing 500 orders a day within Bengaluru. The company is aiming to expand to all major Tier-1 and -2 cities by the end of the year.

Townrush will use the funding raised into the company’s physical infrastructure, technological development, and scaling up its core team.

Other hyperlocal logistics startups that got funded lately are – Roadrunnr via Sequoia and Parcelled via TracXn, both based out of Bengaluru and Mumbai-based Grab.
