Practo Technologies, a Bengaluru-based search engine to find doctors, has acquired Mumbai-based Genii Technologies, a startup focused on product design and development. The acquisition amount has not been disclosed. This is second acquisition by Practo in 2015 as the company has previously acquired Delhi-based fitness tech startup FitHo in April this year.
As part of the deal, the 11-member team of Genii and its founders Varun Vohra and Aditya Anand will join Practo and move to Bengaluru. Genii’s founders will lead product teams and accelerate Practo’s entry into the enterprises space with products focused around hospitals, diagnostic centres etc.
“We believe acquisitions are a fantastic way to add world class, like-minded talent to our team,” said Shashank ND, 27-year-old cofounder and chief executive of Practo. “We continue to look at acquiring great talent and technology.”
Founded in 2011 by Varun Vohra & Aditya Anand, Genii has launched 30 products across multiple domains including retail, finance, real estate, travel and events over the last three years. Varun is an alumni of Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani Dubai.
Practo had raised $30 million (about Rs 190 crore) from Sequoia Capital and Matrix Partners in February this year. The eight-year-old company currently lists over 8,000 hospitals on its platform. It plans to expand this to more than 20,000 hospitals by the end of this year.
An alumnus of National Institute of Technology, Surathkal, Mr. Shashank founded Practo in 2008 along with his college batch mate Abhinav Lal.
