At recent Google’s own event Campfire Gmail has announced Gmail contextual gadget are available, currently in labs for Gmail users and also announced to soon open Gmail contextual gadgets as a new extension point for developers. These gadgets will smartly fetch information from the web and based on the content of an email message users can perform relevant actions  without leaving the Gmail inbox.

Currently, one can see it in action by enabling the Gmail Contextual gadget in labs tabs under setting of all gmail accounts, theafter if anyone send you a youtube link or picassa album link you can see the preview of it right in gmail inbox unlike to earlier situation when one has to open new tab or new window to see videos or photos via those links in their email messages.

Gmail Contextual Gadget targets to some common problem of saving time when one has to open new tab/window while chatting and delayed replies to the person you are chatting because you are watching it in another window. Gmail thus brings contextual gadgets at present youtube videos, photos links and rating so you can see a preview of all these in your chat window or inbox’s email message.

However, the Gmail contextual gadgets are not limited to just these above examples the idea is to fetch information relevant to what in email messages. Appirio PSConnect (see demo) is one such experimental app that enables services professionals to run their business from their email inbox by connecting Google Apps and Salesforce CRM.

Google even invites for a good idea for this type of gadget and one can fill out this form for same.

Imagine a situation – you are seeing a thing that you don’t know anything about, say for example a restaurant menu in some foreign language or a historical monument but you know very little about it or a painting and you can’t even search it on Google because you can’t describe it in words than you think there needs to be a device which instantly get you all the information you need just in time when you seeing it.

It might be very futuristic like that of a sci-fi movie but Google Goggle is a new app (although a prototype) that lets you use pictures taken with your mobile phone to search the web, no need to type or speak your query all you have to do is open the app, take a picture, and wait for your search results. The best thing is its translation feature that translates the texts in picture taken into any desired language you want, right now this technology only works for German to English translations.

However, the Google Goggle is available to just Android enabled smart phones with auto focus feature and QVGA screen available in Android market also the smart app is in its early stage infact its the first prototype Google showcased in Mobile World Congress, Barcelona and Google is still keeping it in their experimental labs.

Google has released Chart tools and APIs that will enable anyone to add live & interactive charts to any web page for free of-course. Google chart tools is an attempt from Google to consolidate all of Google’s charting tools and put it in one location.However, there are no new code or new APIs its actually a consolidation of already available Google Chart API and the Google Visualization API.

What is new for developers that will be much more comfortable and interesting to work with are documentation and new feature such as -

• Revised documentation and a new page that lists all parameters on one page and a new page for each new chart type.
• Added a new chart playground for developers that lets you modify a chart URL and view changes as you type.
• POST requests are now supported, enabling chart URLs up to 16K characters.

There were many players that was offering tools & APIs (paid as well) for charts & data visuals however they necessary requirements restrict the use of same such as (Adobe flash, silverlight etc.) however Google Charts are free from such things run from client side using javascript.

The Google has finally released the Charts & visuals API in an organized and well-documented that could surely be a sweep stake in market where still many companies are offering paid version of their products having similar features.

Google has just unveiled a Android based Super phone called – Nexus One phone and India being one among unsupported countries. however people residing in India may psychologically satisfy themselves watching the Inetractive demo , 3D Tour or videos of Nexus One phone until it arrives in India as there is not any mention via Google of how, why and when it will arrive in India. The Google super phone will be available only in US, UK, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Noticeably unlike to Apple iPhone Google Nexus is “Unlocked” GSM phone sold and shipped by Google only.

Moreover, unavailability of 3G Mobile technology in India could be strong reason for Nexus phone unavailability, as at present its with BSNL only. Ironically, countries like UK had already made trials of next generation 4G mobile broadband technology.

Question – Why Google didn’t approach BSNL? as its also 3G and GSM phone operator in India.

However, India has its own Jugaad of getting Google Nexus by – shipping it to India (US$529 + $60 shipping + import duty = 32k INR approx.) or can also get it from ebay once people people start to resale it.

The recent United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen COP15 of all that big gathering of world leaders might not be as successful as it needed. Vevo is all new music video website devoted exclusively to streaming music videos, the website is developed and hosted by YouTube, Sony, and Google, with content being initially provided by Universal Music Group, Sony Music and EMI. Noticeably, this is the first time that YouTube hosts content off its main website and said to be the largest music oriented website on the Internet.

Vevo was launched yesterday night in a Party at New York and the party have all the big names of western music industry such as Bono, lady Gaga, Mariah Carey and Vevo was introduced by famous singer Rihanna on youTube.

VEVO videos will be available on VEVO.com and on YouTube.com via a VEVO-branded watch page – http://www.youtube.com/vevo, however the website is NOT available in many countries right now such as India and UK.

Today, on 26th November, Google had a an Event at its Gurgaon Office for Adsense Publishers called Google Adsense UnPlugged the main objectives for the event as apparent was to educate, train the publishers on how to earn from Adsense effectively and intelligently.

The event had 6 sessions -

1. Channels & Reports
2. Tools, Features & Health of Adsense Accounts
3. Ad Formats and other Products (Adsense for content, for Feeds, for mobile etc.)
4. Placements & Positions
5. Google Ad Manager (GAM)
6. Google Analytics (w.r.t Adsense)

Two very interesting things I was unaware of, was -

1. Google place high paying Ads which reside on top of your HTML Source code of webpage
2. Preferably, Do not chose either – ‘Text Ads only’ or ‘Image Ads only’ options, because if option Text & Image Ads (default) is chosen adsense will put only one that outbid the other, so in the end you get more money.

The event was great for me and i was actually charmed by the way Google Adsense Team treated us, it was awesome experience. We were also being given certificates after all completing all the sessions.

Today Google has announced the Acquisition of Teracent, a California Startups that has patent pending dynamic ad optimization technology. This acquisition will help Google advertisers to get better results from their display ad campaigns running over Google Content Network and DoubleClick.

The impressive dynamic ad optimization platform by Teracent customize display ads by choosing from thousands of different creative elements, automatically and in real-time, by machine-learning algorithms. The machine-algo pick and choose from thousands of creative elements of a display ad in real-time and tweak images, products, messages or colors. Even more, elements can be optimized depending on factors like geographic location, language, the content of the website, the time of day or the past performance of different ads.

The total amount of acquisition is not known yet, however as apparent in Official Google Blog – the transaction is subject to various closing conditions and is expected to close this quarter.
