The first Google translation demo was shown earlier this year at MWC in Barcelona and could only recognise German. Now since the translation to other Latin languages are supported, Google is concentrating on Non-Latin languages like Arabic, Hindi, etc.

Apart from translation, Google v1.1 also comes with improved barcode recognition, enhanced artwork recognition and
detection of many more products and logos. It also features an improved user interface to provide flexibility while performing visual searches.

In case you were not satisfied with the picture-translation feature, now Google also supports text translation. This combo might just do well for unsatisfied users. But remember, to install Google Goggles you need an Android platform phone that supports Android 1.6+ versions.

It might be very futuristic like that of a sci-fi movie but Google Goggle is a new app (although a prototype) that lets you use pictures taken with your mobile phone to search the web, no need to type or speak your query all you have to do is open the app, take a picture, and wait for your search results. The best thing is its translation feature that translates the texts in picture taken into any desired language you want, right now this technology only works for German to English translations.

However, the Google Goggle is available to just Android enabled smart phones with auto focus feature and QVGA screen available in Android market also the smart app is in its early stage infact its the first prototype Google showcased in Mobile World Congress, Barcelona and Google is still keeping it in their experimental labs.

4mations is a collaboration between Channel 4, Aardman Animations, Reality Digital and Lupus Films and has a strong focus on rewarding animators who upload their work – offering cash rewards of up to £1000 for popular content, competitions, opportunities to pitch for commissions, and even the potential to get on TV.

The 4mations website is based around a video-sharing platform, allowing users to upload, rate and comment on content. Additional functionality includes the “Thinks” application, that allows users to quickly and easily create their own personalized animations. Thinks has been developed by the guys behind the cult web-app – Fuzzwich.

The site was designed by Oscar-winning Aardman Animations (based in Bristol UK, and the brains behind Wallace and Gromit) and built by Reality Digital (based in San Francisco USA), and is based on Reality’s “Opus” video sharing platform.

4mations’ visual design is based around an iconic kitten-skull character called “General Tiddles”, created by designer Gavin Strange and the Aardman creative team.

4mations launches with a whole host of specially commissioned content from the UK animation community, including animated series, virals and games. The site launches with the series “Hate” – an animated spoof of celeb-magazine Heat – and the “General Tiddles” series.

Camilla Deakin, 4mations.tv’s Executive Producer, comments “4mations aims to be the animation sharing community. We built it so that people who like watching it can find it easily and people who enjoy making animation and showing it to other people have an easy and fun place to do just that. AppApeal.com has created web 2.0 Mosaic i.e. an art in form of world map filled with small pieces of images, which in this case are logos of leading web 2.0 websites. This World Web 2.0 Mosaic is created from 1001 web 2.0 company logos which when clicked take you to the related website. The logos will appear in full-size when you hover over the mosaic.

This art of AppApeal has reminded me of Million Dollar Page that had created a lot of buzz, couple of years back but here in this case its free but no inclusion request or so.

One things I found annoyed in AppApeal’s Mosaic art is that not even a single website or blog from India has been included in the web 2.0 logos art, though there are worth full websites from India that are much popular than many of the websites present in mosaic art.
