Stitch multiple photos to create Panoramic Photos in Windows 7 using Windows Live

There was a time when photographers used to have mutiple shoots from different angles to create panoromic photo and than stitch them manually so as to create single panoramitic view of scenes.

Felice Beato in 1866 made a complete Panorama of Yedo, Edo (now Tokyo) Japan comprising five albumen prints, which actually comprises seven photographs joined together almost seamlessly for a total length of more than 2 metres (6 1/2 ft) see picture below. His mastery was flawless over photography, however now people have gained the power of computing and graphics.

If you’re trying to capture that amazing view, but one picture doesn’t do it justice, one can create a panorama with multiple images in Windows 7 using Windows Live Photo Gallery. Under create tab menu, select multiple images and and with just one click of Panorama button stitch mutiple photos.

Google Introduces Page Speed Add-on for Firefox

Google has Introduced Page Speed, an open-source Firefox/Firebug Add-on. Webmasters and web developers can use Page Speed to evaluate the performance of their web pages and to get suggestions on how to improve them.

Google Page speed is very much in analogy of Yahoo’s YSlow a similar Firefox/Firebug plugin which analyzes web pages and suggests ways to improve their performance based on a set of rules for high performance web pages, although google come late with such thing nevertheless Google’s Page Speed provide bit more in-depth analysis than YSlow.

Page Speed performs several tests on a site’s web server configuration and front-end code. These tests are based on a set of best practices known to enhance web page performance. Webmasters who run Page Speed on their pages get a set of scores for each page, as well as helpful suggestions on how to improve its performance.

Page Speed add-on also displays a timeline of network, cache and Javascript timeline event and events are displayed along the timeline and one can also record activities and collect complete call graphs for any single web page.

Open Source brings down cost of making Social Networks cheaper

Social networking which is integral part of web 2.0 wave, as users have much more participation level in this domain along with networking that lure them more than anything. When talking about this, names that appears in anyone’s’ mind are Facebook, Orkut or MySpace leaders in social networking and all of them have big names, brand and most importantly money to pay to their developers, visualizers etc. however today one can find plenty of scripts to make their own facebook clones or myspace kinda network.

Process Priority Manager: Handle Process Priorities for Windows Program

Nowdays, with plenty of application coming in such as photo editors, browsers with bunch of plug-ins, download manager, iTunes, DreamWeaver Video editing s/w, all running at same time could well be managed with more than good memory (RAM) i.e. >2GB but what if its lacking primary memory capacity and that too on Vista machine you might end up pressing ctrl+alt+DEL and starting task manager to end one or more processes.

Process Manager (Windows) is small utility for same problem where you can just right click on any application in taskbar and say “Kill” to end the unwanted or programs putting burden over memory and can even prioritize the process like – High, Normal, Above Normal, Below Normal or Low.

Although one also do the same by starting task manager and right-clicking to see the options – high, normal, low but this utility provides more options with more ease and accessibility by just right clicking the window tab instead of waiting for task manager to open.
