Lately past month an another Mobile Social Networking App has been Launched in India and it seems that past couple of weeks were the busiest period when mobile startups in India has been launched. Rocketalk has launched public beta of its free mobile social networking application in India just after Zook.in, Qeep and a recent one - MobileAdda of BigAdda.com etc. It is one of earliest mobile 2.0 startup from India (since 2004) as the founder of company is a product himself of premier Indian institute IIT, Mumbai. Rocketalk is a downloadable mobile phone application (m.rocketalk.com) which allows mobile phone users to meet and interact with new people through text, voice, picture and video messaging. Users can mash-up user generated content with other content, create and share their own content with friends and family and obviously join and interact with mobile communities. Moreover the company is in verge of making RockeTalk an IM chat compatible in near future i.e. IM facility with Yahoo, Google Talk, MSN, AIM and ICQ. RockeTalk is a venture-backed company, headquartered in San Diego, California, USA with offices in Delhi, India.

Blue Lion Mobile, a Cologne-based company has officially offered it mobile 2.0 product 'Qeep', a social network for mobile phones in India, which would allow Indian users to stay connected with their friends, make new friends and do all such social networking activities on their Mobile handsets by downloading the application qeep on to their mobile phones. Qeep is a Java based App and can be downloaded for free at www.qeep.net or via WAP portal at wap.qeep.net. Any internet-ready mobile phone that supports Java MIDP 2.0 is qeep-compatible. Qeep offers host of interactive features like private messaging, photo-blogging with unlimited storage space, live multi-player gaming, sound attacks and QMS, a special kind of text message designed for qeep and costs a lot less than an SMS. The beta-version of the qeep mobile community was launched in December 2006 and have a user base of over 3,00,000 users fronm around 160 countries.

BigAdda.com, the most widely used social network portal in India and made in India as well has launched its mobile version past week to catch the ramping mobile usage by Indian crowd. The company launched the Mobile version of BigAdda in two parts - online version (wap.bigadda.com) and Downloadable version called Mobile Adda (not to be confused with website with similar name). When it comes to features it is providing this is probably the first time that an Indian made social network is providing such features on mobile platform such as - inviting friends from your phonebook and to use the in-built phonebook in mobile handsets to send invitations to his/her friends network, as phone-book on mobile devices is the closest replica of ones social & professional contacts.
