4mations is a collaboration between Channel 4, Aardman Animations, Reality Digital and Lupus Films and has a strong focus on rewarding animators who upload their work – offering cash rewards of up to £1000 for popular content, competitions, opportunities to pitch for commissions, and even the potential to get on TV.

The 4mations website is based around a video-sharing platform, allowing users to upload, rate and comment on content. Additional functionality includes the “Thinks” application, that allows users to quickly and easily create their own personalized animations. Thinks has been developed by the guys behind the cult web-app – Fuzzwich.

The site was designed by Oscar-winning Aardman Animations (based in Bristol UK, and the brains behind Wallace and Gromit) and built by Reality Digital (based in San Francisco USA), and is based on Reality’s “Opus” video sharing platform.

4mations’ visual design is based around an iconic kitten-skull character called “General Tiddles”, created by designer Gavin Strange and the Aardman creative team.

4mations launches with a whole host of specially commissioned content from the UK animation community, including animated series, virals and games. The site launches with the series “Hate” – an animated spoof of celeb-magazine Heat – and the “General Tiddles” series.

Camilla Deakin, 4mations.tv’s Executive Producer, comments “4mations aims to be the animation sharing community. We built it so that people who like watching it can find it easily and people who enjoy making animation and showing it to other people have an easy and fun place to do just that. If you want to share your work, get feedback from a community of animators, or just look at some cool stuff, 4mations is for you.”

To compete with others in online video market DailyMotion has tied-up with Hungama entertainment firm which have strong base with over 250 deals with media and entertainment companies to let their content travel through various digital platforms. Hungama Mobile will act as a anchor partner cum Business associate in Indian operations as company has no plans to set up the physical presence in India, Hungama Mobile will deal with all content manipulation activities in India.

Moreover Dailymotion.com has tied with Eros , Mid-Day and Bollywood Hungama which deals in entertainment, news and movie content repectively, wherein their content will be available on DailyMotion platform, the company is also close to deals with news channels such as NDTV, Aaj Tak and Star Network.

Metacafe would be giving a strong competition to DailyMotion apart from YouTube ( no doubt most visited) despite of the fact that DailyMotion has more reach worldwide in terms of daily unique visitors than MetaCafe or even TruVeo, nevertheless India is one of the nation having strong user base and visitors coming from.

The company also planned to take its video sharing activity to be consumed through mobile which is said to be rising in India.
