The website has now built a social platform to provide content in form of applications to social networking portals having open social platforms. In anticipation of this social engine the website has launched a Facebook App called – Cinemas, where user can get movies related content in their Facebook profiles.

Though, we have pointed out in our previous post about Corners.in, that the website is more about movies, photos of Indian Cinema rather than other traits of social networking sites, this has been maintained in App for Facebook too.

Interestingly, the plans of company that I perceived through email received from Sanjeev, Founder of Melamesa, the makers of Corners.in, he wrote -

Social networking now has two dimensions to it – The social infrastructure on one side, and the content on the other. The biggest social networks today – Facebook, Orkut, Myspace, hi5, have identified this dichotomy and have opened their platforms for the content providers (applications). We have been targeting to fill the space in the second category

The company have plans to eventually target other open social platform compatible websites to build even more applications and implement the strategy they have inculcated in new overhauled model of corners.in of being prolific application provider for open social platforms.

MySpace, nearly a week later of its Indian MySpace Launch, the site had moved out its MySpace Apps for its users to install and play around. The Applications are built on MySpace developer Platform where nearly 5,000 developers are working upon, these are also a part of Google OpenSocial Platform which also has been implemented by Google’s very own Orkut.

The MySpace Developer Network is stressing more on Learning and Testing phase for developer to work upon rather than to just pull attention of users to get cheap traffic or so. For example, at this pint of time, unlike to Facebook, MySpace members cannot write directly or send messages to their friends’ wall, nervertheless their are interactive apps to have fun around.

The MySpace Apps has language option to choose the language of Application to install, though because of its initial phase their are few Apps in varieties of languages to choose from (not atleast in Hindi), though there are few Apps for Indians to try, one is – DesiScreen, where one can search and watch Desi Indian hindi movies and TV videos.
