Sify become first IPv6 enabled Portal in IndiaSify, yesterday has become first commercial content portal in India to be IPv6 enabled making Sify first to leave 20 years old IPv4 technology and deploy IPv6 technologies and its associated services in India.

Apparently in India before Sify there seems to be only one IPv6 enabled website which is – IPv6 test network at BITS, Pilani, though not being commercial, Sify now become one of the first such service for public.

IPv6 fixes a number of problems in IPv4, such as the limited number of available IPv4 addresses along with other improvements such as routing, networking and auto configuration.

From now onwards, Sify’s entire suite of IP connectivity services, including Internet access to enterprise customers and MPLS-based IP-VPN services are IPv6 enabled. This ensures that Sify’s customers can transition and migrate from a basic IPv4 based network service to IPv6 Next Generation Network with dual-stack i.e. IPv6 & IPv4 support.
