Jagran-Yahoo offering Hindi News Content

Jagran-Yahoo!Yahoo! has tied up with Indian print media publisher Jagran Prakashan Ltd. to co-brand hindi portal services for India – Jaagran-Yahoo India, which offers Hindi content for Indian audience such as samachar (news), cricket, cinema, panchang, literature, sakhi, josh, and other sections in Hindi. Although Jaagran’s own online version Jagran.com has more Hindi content than former one.

Yahoo! has tied up with JPL (Jagran Prakashan Ltd.) under the terms of the agreement, where each will share graphical and keyword advertising revenue generated by the property with Yahoo! India managing the advertising sales and serving for the new co-branded property. Both Yahoo ! and Jagran will also partner in distributing Yahoo! India’s search and small and medium business offerings.

Jagran Prakashan Ltd. is a leading publishing house in India which publishes Dainik Jagran, India’s largest read and highest circulated daily with a total readership of 18.19 million readers per day ( IRS 2006 R2).

Although this type of service providing Hindi news is not new as earlier in march 2007 Google has also launched Google News in Hindi along with Hindi translation in its Blogging service – Blogger.

Jagran-Yahoo! also covers States wise Local News in Hindi for 14 Indian States – Bihar, Delhi, Chhatisgarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, J&K, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Punjab, West Bengal, Rajashtan, Uttaranchal and Uttar Pradesh. This further can be navigate to major cities in these states.
